Manatee Signage
For this project, I was to make signage for anything of my choosing. I decided to make signage for a Manatee aquarium.
Here are some of my ideas sketched out. I wanted to make a mural, informational sign, a glass sign that would go onto the aquarium glass, and a light up sign to show the guests when the manatees were eating.
For the mural, I started by drawing the outlines of a bunch of manatees. I colored them in and then added my illustrations onto a stock image. I used a blending mode to make the manatees appear to be painted onto the brick wall in the image.
For the informational sign, I started by drawing a friendly looking manatee in the bottom right corner and then added a drawing of water and bubbles to act as a border. I then added the title at the top that reads, 'Manatees' and some informational text about a manatee's behavior which I got from The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium's website. I added the final image onto a sign mockup. I used a stock image of an aquarium and photoshopped a manatee and the sign inside.
For the glass sign, I started by drawing a manatee with his hand waving in the air so it looks like the manatee is trying to get the audience's attention. I added text to the right side that reads, " Hey! Please don't bang on the glass! It scares us!". I changed the color to white and placed the illustration onto a glass mockup. I then photoshopped a stock image by adding manatees and the glass sign mockup.
For the light up sign, I started by drawing a manatee holding lettuce and then added a glow effect to the outlines. I then added the final design onto a wall sign mockup. I photoshopped a stock image by adding manatees and the mockup sign.
Here is my final presentation board to show all of my final designs.
